Fuel injector component manufacturing evolved naturally from our years of experience in processing sleeves and spools for the fluid power industries. Diesel engine fuel injectors operate at significantly higher pressures than hydraulic/pneumatic valves. Therefore, the diametrical clearances between plunger and barrel are somewhat tighter in this latter application. Christopher Tool is able to maintain diametrical clearances down to 70 millionths.

Higher pressures increase the chances of leakage. Fuel injector designs, therefore, impose tight run-out tolerances. We are able to maintain run-outs within .0002 of an inch. Our skill and our measuring capability also enable us to hold straightness and roundness requirements to .000040 of an inch. Emissions are controlled by efficient combustion.
